Goodbye 2015

With 2015 coming to an end, I have to say that this year was a huge turning point for my career and personal life.  Before I say goodbye to 2015, I want to show you some of my baking highlights and share my favorite treats!

Here are my top cakes!


Although these were all beautiful and each unique, my absolute favorite is the Sea Turtle Cake since it really pushed me as decorator.   I was able to really let my imagination run free with this cake which made the experience that much better.  To be honest, I had no idea I could sculpt anything since my aesthetics tend to be on the cutesy side.  This cake certainly opened my eyes to a whole new world of creativity!


Time for cupcakes!


This round goes to the Baby Girl Baby Shower Cupcakes 1! I was commissioned to create 8 unique designs for 24 cupcakes and boy, was that a challenge! I was so pleased with how they turned out and most importantly, the mom to be was so happy with them.  Check out an up close shot of my favorite 4!


Now, let’s cover some random goodies!


The winner for this round goes to my Breast Cancer Awareness Truffles.  This year, I lost a friend to breast cancer and also found out that my old boss was diagnosed.  When it hits so close to home, it really makes you reevaluate a lot of things.  My best friend Colette and I decided to participate in the Making Strides walk in Central Park and start a campaign to raise awareness.  I will always remember Jackie for her amazing personality, dedication to her friends and family and her love for some good house music!  I also know Debbie will fight this with everything she has and we will all be there to support her! 


2015 also presented me with some incredible opportunities with Chobani and Nordic Ware! I wrote some blog posts to feature and work with their products.  I am so grateful to have had these amazing opportunities and I am so looking forward to working with them again in 2016!


Now that I’ve covered my year in baking, let’s get personal.  

With all of these wonderful opportunities and watching my social media grow in the last year, I really started to think about what I want to do.  Could I make Chicky Treats into a full time career? Will I make enough money? Will I be able to have a job and do this too? Should I leave my job now knowing I have a wedding to plan? I took some time to really list out the pros and cons and my decision was clear.  I needed to leave my job and focus my energy entirely on building Chicky Treats.

Sure things are going to be challenging not having a steady income but when else will I be able to have the time to fully pursue this? The reality is, you’ll never have enough money even if you plan for it or have enough time to do everything but I believe having drive and focus is the key to being successful.  I have to take a chance and know that I will give Chicky Treats everything I have to make it work.

I have no doubt in my mind that no matter what, I will always figure out a way to make things happen.  I am a New Yorker after all! Everyday I’m hustlin’! 

So, Goodbye 2015! Thank you for helping me grow, for learning more about myself and for presenting me with so many opportunities! Thank you to my family, friends, coworkers and all of my followers on social media who have shown me nothing but love and support for my craft! A special thank you to my love Jeff for always believing in me and helping me with everything! I am so looking forward to what 2016 has to offer!
