I crave chocolate all the time and I wanted to come up with a healthier alternative to one of my favorite treats, a chocolate milkshake! Allow me to introduce you to a Chocolate Avocado Milkshake!
Yes you read right! Avocado! Now you might be thinking I am completely crazy but I promise this Chocolate Avocado Milkshake is creamy and perfectly sweet with the help of SPLENDA ZERO™ Liquid Sweetener! It is the latest SPLENDA® Sweetner product available that is easy to use and is sure to become your favorite! Now, let’s talk shake.
This recipe makes 2 servings but you can easily double it and share it with friends!
In a blender, you’ll want to add a whole ripe avocado, cocoa powder, your choice of milk (I used coconut), vanilla extract, a few squirts of SPLENDA ZERO™ Liquid Sweetener and ice! Blend everything up together until smooth. I tasted it to make sure it was the right level of sweetness that I prefer and it was on point!
I poured my serving into a cute mason jar and saved the rest! While this shake is delicious as is, it’s not necessarily the prettiest. Yes, I like pretty things and if I am making a healthier food choice, I want it to look good!
I’ve noticed over the top milkshakes are trending in many popular restaurants where they literally add every kind of topping you can think of. I decided to keep it simple and topped my Chocolate Avocado Shake with whipped cream, a chocolate sauce drizzle and a small piece of chocolate studded with peanuts. Oh, and you can’t forget the cute straw! Now we’re talking!
- 1 ripe avocado halved and pitted
- 1 1/2 cups of your choice of milk
- 1/4 cup of cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 6 squirts of SPLENDA ZERO™ Liquid Sweetener, or to your taste
- 8 ice cubes
- Add the avocado, milk of your choice, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, SPLENDA ZERO™ Liquid Sweetener and ice to a blender. Blend on high until smooth. Taste to adjust the sweetness. Serve cold.
