It’s officially New Year’s Eve and I’m counting down to the end of 2016. If you’ve been following my journey on social media, a lot has happened! Between leaving my job, seeing my brother get married, planning my own wedding and creating some really cool cakes, I’m so ready to welcome the new year!
When I think of Halloween, I always gravitate to something pretty. I was that kid that always wanted to be a Disney Princess and was totally scared of anything creepy. Fast forward to me as a 30 year old adult who has seen her share of flirty nurses and sexy ketchup bottles (yes that does exist), I wanted to take the creepy elements of Halloween and make them beautiful. This is the birth of my Halloween Bloody Brain Cake! Continue Reading…
I like to break the rules and for this Banana Cream Pie, I wanted to deconstruct it! Okay that wasn’t my original plan but I really didn’t want to make a pie crust from scratch. The waiting, the rolling, the mess, the baking, the cooling, etc. I just was not in the mood for all of that! The wheels in my head starting turning and I thought to replace the pie crust with graham cracker crumbs! GENIUS!
Wow! I can’t believe it has been over a year since I last blogged! So much has happened that I am finally ready to get back into this.
This last year was really a time for me to reflect on who I am and want to be. I know, it’s so cliche but I think it’s so important to take time off and refocus on yourself. Living in NYC, with it’s fast pace and all of commotion can take a toll on you. Don’t get me wrong, I love my city. I love that this truly is a place for you to make anything happen but sometimes, it can get a bit overwhelming. You are on a constant grind to make money, put yourself out there, get rewarded, get rejected, and it’s sort of a repeat cycle. With all of that I told myself I needed to take a second, or in this case a year, and regroup. What is it that I want? What can I do to make it happen? I know I have so much more to offer but what is it?
Thanksgiving is probably one of the best holidays and this year I celebrated twice. Once with my family as usual and for the first time ever, Jeff and I tackled hosting our own dinner at our apartment! I was in charge of desserts at my family’s house (obviously) and for our place, we made everything. Yup, even the turkey!
