With 2015 coming to an end, I have to say that this year was a huge turning point for my career and personal life. Before I say goodbye to 2015, I want to show you some of my baking highlights and share my favorite treats! Continue Reading…
Most carnivorous people I know would give the side eye to anything vegan. I can’t really blame them since I barely had any vegetables growing up. Forget about being a vegan in a Latin household! Abuelita would guilt trip you and tell you there are so many starving children in the world and we are blessed to have food on the table! Ugh, how can you not feel bad! Now that times have changed, the concept of being vegan is a lot more common and available. I guess if Beyonce endorses it then it’s legit right?! Kidding! Side note, I love Beyonce!
As a baker, I have made it my priority to learn as much as I can about all types of baking and my friends Emily and Nate’s wedding was the best time to put my skills to the test for a vegan wedding cake and cupcakes!
I have to say I wasn’t really interested in Shark Week until I started to notice how many people are into it! I had to find out what the hype was all about so I started watching some shows on the Discovery Channel! Now I totally get it! I had no idea there were so many different types of sharks that all have their own unique characteristics. I only knew of the great white shark since it is the most common. I was completely fascinated and thought what better way to celebrate the ocean’s scariest predator than with Shark Week Cupcakes! Continue Reading…
Happy new year everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic holiday season filled with lots of family, friends and sweets! I have to say it was really awesome celebrating our first Christmas and New Years at our place. Our apartment is a bit smaller than our last one but we made it work. It was really sad putting away my decorations but hey, there is always next year!
Anyway, I’m so excited to announce a new direction for Chicky Treats. Like the site? I do too! Jeff has seriously outdone himself with recreating my vision. I wanted something a little more sophisticated but playful and much easier to navigate. He totally delivered!
I can’t remember the last time I blogged. I know, I’ve been slacking! Things have been so hectic that last few months. My office moved to a new location and I moved to a new apartment two weeks later. Guess who was at the center of planning most of it? This girl right here! Not so fun but I’m happy to say I am more than settled in both places. On to the good stuff!
For my birthday, Jeff surprised me with a fondant class at the NY Cake Academy with the fabulous Lisa Mansour. He made the surprise even better when he took the class with me! It was such an awesome experience to spend time with him doing what I love and finally learn how to apply fondant to different shaped cakes.
